Solar Power Plant Distribution Solution – Philippines

Solar Power Plant Distribution Solution – Philippines

Project Background
As part of the Philippine government’s renewable energy program, a 50MW solar farm was developed in Luzon Island. The project aimed to enhance clean energy generation and reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels. A robust power distribution system was required to integrate the solar output into the national grid while maintaining stability and safety.

QZ Group Solution
QZ Group delivered a complete power distribution and grid-connection solution for the solar farm:

  • Step-Up and Step-Down Transformers

    • 10/0.4kV Dry-Type Transformers – connected to solar inverters for low-voltage conversion.

    • 35kV Oil-Immersed Transformers – stepping up output voltage for grid transmission.

  • Medium & Low Voltage Switchgear

    • KYN28-12 Medium Voltage Switchgear – handling incoming feeders and grid connection points.

    • RMU (Ring Main Units) – for flexible sectionalizing of solar field distribution lines.

    • Low Voltage Switchgear – for auxiliary facilities and plant operations.

  • Protection & Control

    • VS1 Indoor Vacuum Circuit Breakers – ensuring reliable circuit protection.

    • ZW32 Outdoor Pole-Mounted Breakers – for overhead line and feeder protection.

  • Power Quality & Stability

    • Automatic Capacitor Banks – improving power factor and reducing line losses.

Outcome
The QZ Group solution enabled stable grid integration of the solar farm, ensuring efficient and reliable transmission of renewable energy to local communities. It supported the Philippines’ sustainable development goals, providing clean power to thousands of households and reducing CO₂ emissions significantly.
